Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and ContractorLicenseAlert (“we”, “us”) for using our website and app (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy. If you are using the service for a business, you agree on its behalf and confirm you are allowed to.
Your account
- You need to be at least 18 and give accurate details, including a work email address you can receive mail at.
- Keep your password and sign-in codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account, and account owners are responsible for the team members they invite.
- Tell us straight away at support@contractorlicensealert.com if you think someone else has got into your account.
Free trial and subscription
- Every new workspace starts with a free trial of 7 days. No card is needed.
- After the trial, the Pro plan is $39 a month, or $390 a year, as shown on our pricing page. Prices exclude any taxes that apply. Payment is taken by our payment provider, on its own checkout page and subject to its terms.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel it. You can cancel any time from Plan & billing, which stops the next renewal.
- If a trial ends without a subscription, or a subscription ends, the workspace pauses: reminders stop and only Plan & billing and exporting your licenses stay open. Nothing is deleted — subscribe again and everything carries on.
- Plans have limits (such as the number of licenses, team members and document reads a month), shown on the pricing page. If we change a price, we will tell account owners by email at least 30 days before it applies to them.
- For billing questions or refund requests, email support@contractorlicensealert.com.
Your information and documents
- Everything you put into the service — records, people, documents, notes — stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and process it only as needed to run the service for you, including sending documents to the providers that read them, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and to add the people you add — including their contact details and having reminder emails sent to them.
- You can export your licenses and people at any time, and ask us to delete your workspace by emailing support@contractorlicensealert.com.
What the service does — and doesn’t — promise
ContractorLicenseAlert is a tool to help you keep track of renewals. It is not legal or compliance advice, and it does not renew anything for you or deal with licensing authorities on your behalf. In particular:
- Check the dates. Dates and details read from documents can be wrong or incomplete, which is why the app asks you to review them before saving. The issuing authority’s record is the official one; you are responsible for the dates you save and for renewing on time.
- Reminders are a back-up, not a guarantee. Email can be delayed, filtered as spam or bounce, and the service can be unavailable at times. We are not responsible for a missed renewal, a lapsed license, or any fine, penalty or lost work that follows.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- break the law, or upload anything you don’t have the right to share;
- use the service to send unwanted email, or add people with no business reason to contact them;
- try to get into another customer’s workspace, test our security without our written permission, or overload the service;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to build a competing one;
- upload malware or anything designed to cause harm.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Changes and availability
We are always improving the service and may change, add or remove features. We aim to keep it running around the clock but can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors; we may need to pause it for maintenance.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop offering the service — in which case we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data first, where we can.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those written in these terms, including any implied warranty that it is fit for a particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — such as lost profits, lost work, fines or penalties — and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell account owners by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
